Canon EOS 1000D, the new generation
Canon has just introduced a new generation or segment of digital SLR cameras, located on the lower end. The EOS 1000D is one of the models was expected as part of the Photokina rumors , and is the cheapest SLR and compact so far made by Canon and is more than likely become the next bestselling Japanese manufacturer.
To place a little to the reader is to explain how the numbering scheme of the EOS , and this applies both to the range as analog to digital. Cameras with a single digit, are the professional range, and are much more sophisticated the lower the number, provided they relate to the same period. Thus the EOS 1 would be better than 3, and is the 5. Since arriving in the EOS 1, no lower numbers (only worth the natives) was starting to put names in the form of letters. Currently have the digital range EOS 1Ds Mark III , EOS 1D Mark III and EOS 5D .
Below digit cameras, there are two, which are semi-professional or advanced amateur. In this case, the higher the figure is the chamber art and, therefore, the better. Currently the only existing digital model is the Canon EOS 40D .
A step below are located the three-digit model, for fans. Again more modern. This is the case of the EOS 400D and EOS 450D .
And finally we have the four-digit model, a category that existed in analog, but still had not appeared in digital. Are the segment of entry and is less expensive cameras. Now the first digital model is the Canon EOS 1000D .
The EOS 1000D features a 10.1 megapixel sensor dust reduction system, and ability to use Live View mode through its 2.5-inch TFT screen. It incorporates the latest processor signature, the Digic III JPEG can make up to three per second, which are stored on an SD / SDHC. You can also shoot up to 514 photos that rate, compared with 27 of the 400D or 53 of the 450D. RAW can do 5 photos at 1.5 per second.
The official price is 555 euros body, while the kit 18-55 IS lens with the usual cost € 655.
With these features we can liken to a EOS 400D updated with the latest technologies ( Live View and Digic III ), but which he has cut the autofocus system, as the 1000D has 7 focus points compared with 9 of the 400D. Thus the camera disappear from the catalog will probably be the 400D, but for the moment remains in the page digital SLRs from Canon .
Recall that when Canon introduce the EOS 350D , it recalled the EOS 300D . However, the launch of the EOS 400D is maintained, one notch below the 350D. The same happened when the 450D was introduced, removing the 350D, but keeping the 400D. Thus, Canon already had a lower input range of its latest models of three digits since August 2006, which was neither more nor less than the previous model.
But keep the old model may be feeling somewhat outdated and limiting sales, so after finding that they had enough acceptance, have decided to create a range with its own identity. Given that each three-digit digital model has set a sales record (to the 450D does not have time) is more than probable that the EOS 1000D is the new star of the stores.
To easily see the differences between the 1000D and the 400D, we can see the comparison of products from the website of Canon Europe (in the Canon Spain , always take longer to update and now in the comparator does not appear the features of the 1000D) . To facilitate the task, and I've compared the features marked in yellow where one of the two models is better (the 400D data is missing due to an error in the information from Canon, otherwise the frame is because there differences). As for the battery and optional grip, are the same model that was introduced with the EOS 450D .

I feel the picture quality, but very large and did not want to weigh a lot.

A great post!
Thank you very much for the information, and all the gigs you've taken to prepare it.
At week and a half I go to Japan. I'll stop by the photo shops in Tokyo one of the first day, I can report prices for some things, and return to Tokyo (on July 17-18), I can buy something, if you're interested.
Thanks, very interesting.
Good job.
